Riccardo Magherini – HANOI

Riccardo Magherini is a photographer and visual artist. Approaching his medium in innovative ways, Riccardo often challenges human perception, condition and context. Riccardo found his artistic vein during a trip to Japan. From that experience he developed a way of telling stories merging different times and spaces, taking images as fragments around the subject, composing and tuning them like instruments in a score. Hong Kong, New York, Tokyo, Lisbon, Bangkok, Hanoi: his works, taken in the great metropolises of the world, sublimate street life, recreating sensations through the overlapping of time and space. Riccardo’s personal aesthetic continues to evolve along with his ever-expanding artistic practice.

RICCARDO MAGHERINI wonderful moment

The award-winning Italian photographer is the creator of a sensorial and reflective style of fine art photography. From the superimposition of multiple images, it forms a snapshot of precise suspended moments. His “Florence” series represents urban fragments of Florence, his hometown.

Another practitioner who seeks to capture the passage of time in his images, Magherini takes multiple frames of the same location and superimposes them to create unique images that distort the subjects within the image and create a sense of movement. Much like Hockney and Picasso, the pieces seek to capture the dynamic nature of the world and how it is never static. Even though the image depicts a stone building, a frenetic energy is always present.

Blurred and surrealist photography of people

Italian photographer Riccardo Magherini took advantage of a trip to Thailand to shoot a series of photos called the BKK Series. Wandering around the Talat Noi district, he immortalized the daily life of residents and workers in an artistic and original way, between vagueness and complex atmospheres.

BKK series by Riccardo Magherini

Sometimes that sense of estrangement that seizes you when you’re away from home, in a new and unfamiliar place, among people who don’t speak your language and signs you don’t understand, can be a precious source of creativity and inspiration.

Riccardo Magherini, award-winning Italian photographer, plays with that feeling by letting himself wander.

STREET IMAGES BY RICCARDO MAGHERINI FROM BANGKOK

“I like letting myself be enveloped by places and temporal stratifications, searching through images for a face, a gesture, bringing it to the surface and playing with it.” Italian street photographer Riccardo Magherini tells The Phoblographer. His series, BKK, is the latest of these works featuring cities from Tokyo to Hong Kong, Florence and New York.

PHOTOGRAPHY  RICCARDO MAGHERINI : FLORENCE

Riccardo Magherini, advertising photographer, started dealing with fine art photography in 2011, after a trip to Tokyo. The lines, the streets, the multitude of that metropolis have given rise to a composite, stratified visual, developed in the “Tokyo” series and elaborated in the following ones. His images capture and transport you to a space where depth and perception of time overlap and merge.
