Parcours Muséologique Revisité is Robert Polidori's attempt to visually portray aspects of historical revisionism as seen through the various phases of the restoration of the Palace of Versailles. What does it really mean to renovate a room. Is it the precise duplication of something now showing the wear and tear of its age, to renovate it and make it as it once was again. Or does it involve the complete redefinition of the epidermis of the room into an entirely different state, a state it may once have had in an earlier era. The curatorial decisions that control this process reflect a political will and aesthetic tastes that have changed over the period of the restoration.
Photographed over a period of 25 years, the transient and temporary situations that the efforts of these restorations allow, present temporal paradoxes involving layers of history and power.
