The images presented in ‘Eros’, the new monograph by Guido Argentini, suggest stories to the viewers. The use of the diptych, an image of a woman and a photograph of a landscape or a still life helps to create a narrative. These stories are still and silent; they have no voice and no soundtrack. The stories are only told by the emotions of their characters. Each woman is dreaming and, at the same time, we, the viewers are dreaming of each woman depicted in the book. Imaginary women, imaginary places combined together with the magic of color, all of which becomes a major creative tool for Argentini.

The Due Piani space hosts for the first time in Italy the internationally renowned photographer Guido Argentini for an exclusive workshop focused on nude photography. The author has always investigated the female universe attracted by all its nuances, passing from an idea of a woman divinity, as in his black and whites set in landscapes with soft lines that almost redraw the female forms, or in the sculptural images of series ‘Argentum’ to stronger situations, set in luxurious hotel rooms as in cheap motels, where Caravaggio-like lights and bright colors become the scenery of stories in which eroticism and beauty dominate, where the woman is mistress of herself and her sensuality.

Color and structure radically influence the way we perceive shapes. They are part of the photographic language like composition and perspectives; and then, ideas, field choices. Guido Argentini offers us an innovative vision of the female nude, with antithetical, almost oxymoronic components: starting from color and shape. The bodies move, but they are silver statues.
